Pages and categories relating to British India, which included the present-day countries of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Burma. Aden in Yemen was also governed by British India. Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and the Straits Settlements (now Singapore and parts of Malaysia) had earlier been part of British India but were separate colonies by the time of the First World War. Nepal and Bhutan were independent states, not part of the British Empire.
