Note: I'm having trouble finding an easily accessible list of Indian battalions, so in the meantime, here's a list of those Indian Divisions in 1914-1918 that actually left India and went to war, taken from the Long, Long Trail site (with permission).

According to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, in August 1914, the Indian Army comprised 39 horsed cavalry regiments and 138 infantry battalions, 20 of which were Gurkhas.[1] Of the 200,000 enlisted men, 45,000 were non-combatants.[2] By the end of the war, 1,105,000 Indian personnel had been sent overseas.[1] Indian women also served in Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service.[1]
